Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Staff Civil Engineer based in Butte, MT (work across Montana locations may be required). This is a full-time engineering role supporting multidisciplinary project teams on infrastructure, water, stormwater, and site development projects. The position involves design, technical reporting, construction administration, and occasional field work.


What You’ll Do

  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, and constructible design drawings.
  • Design sanitary sewer collection systems and water distribution/pumping facilities.
  • Design stormwater treatment and storage systems.
  • Design roads, parking areas, subdivisions, and development site improvements.
  • Use design software (including AutoCAD Civil 3D) to apply engineering standards.
  • Assist with preparation of construction plans, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
  • Support construction administration: bidding, inspection/oversight, daily documentation, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with client standards and project requirements.
  • Communicate technical analyses and results clearly in written reports and presentations.
  • Travel to project sites and other offices as needed; follow safety procedures on-site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • If not licensed, ability to obtain an Engineer Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license within one year of employment.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Basic AutoCAD Civil 3D skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy.

Preferred skills

  • Some prior experience in civil/site or water resources engineering is preferred but not required.
  • EI certification preferred.
  • Survey experience and materials testing certifications are a plus.

Work environment

  • Combination of office work and fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
  • Travel to multiple sites or remote locations is required at times.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 per year (based on qualifications and experience).
