Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a motivated early-career Staff Accountant to join their Finance team in Tampa, FL. This hands-on role supports day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and process improvement efforts. Ideal for recent Accounting/Finance graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of accounting experience who want broad exposure to corporate accounting and analytics.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities and financial statement preparation.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and resolve discrepancies.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, sales tax, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Create standard and ad-hoc reports; analyze financial data to inform business decisions.
- Use Fishbowl, Salesforce, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI to manage data, reporting, and process improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, and Customer Service to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and system implementations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including working with large datasets and formulas).
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to accuracy and adherence to accounting policies and regulations.
Preferred
- Exposure to ERP or accounting systems (Fishbowl, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Experience or coursework with Salesforce or Power BI.
- Practical knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
