What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Staff Accountant to deliver accurate accounting, reconciliation, and compliance support across multiple client engagements.
- Reconcile accounts and prepare supporting schedules, journal entries, and accruals.
- Manage the general ledger and assist with month-end close processes.
- Prepare financial statements, detailed workpapers, and client-facing reports.
- Investigate and resolve unreconciled items, discrepancies, and abnormal balances.
- Help develop budgets, track expenditures, and perform variance analysis.
- Support grant accounting, 2 CFR Part 200 financial reviews, and payroll/labor cost analysis as required.
- Regularly use Microsoft Excel and adapt accounting procedures to each client’s systems and funding structure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: reconciliations, debit/credit, journal entries, and financial statements.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, lookups, filters, basic PivotTables).
- Sharp attention to detail and the ability to follow established accounting procedures.
- Strong critical-thinking skills to research discrepancies and escalate appropriately.
- Excellent organization and time-management to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions.
Ideal Candidate
- CPA-eligible or interested in pursuing certification.
- 1+ years of accounting experience, relevant entry-level experience, or internship experience.
- Experience with nonprofit, governmental, grant, or federal accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or other accounting systems.
- Demonstrated ownership of work and accountability for results.
- Quick learner with the ability to adopt various accounting, workflow, reporting, and collaboration tools.
- Able to pass a background check and drug screening.
