Staff Accountant (Remote-Centric Hybrid)
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting and financial functions of assigned ambulatory surgery centers, including cash management, financial statement preparation, bank reconciliations, and budget analysis. This role supports financial accuracy and compliance through detailed analysis, reporting, and collaboration with center personnel, operating primarily in a remote-centric hybrid work environment.

What You’ll Do
This entry-level Staff Accountant role supports a confidential client that manages ambulatory surgery centers. You will be responsible for daily accounting and financial functions for assigned centers, including preparing monthly financial reports, managing cash, reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with special projects and financial analysis.
- Primary resource for center personnel regarding financial issues
- Manage inflow/outflow of cash and maintain the proprietary cash management system
- Prepare financial statements and all necessary general ledger journal entries
- Create and review cash flow statements for assigned centers
- Analyze end-of-month financial packages and report large variances to management
- Reconcile fixed asset costs and accumulated depreciation; review physical inventory counts
- Perform income statement trend analysis and prepare notes for management review
- Conduct mid-month cash analysis to distribute available cash to partners
- Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger and investigate variances
- Perform monthly balance sheet and accounts receivable analyses and reconciliations
- Analyze and record payroll and benefits activity; support payroll/benefit transitions
- Review legal agreements as related to financial documentation (leases, debt maintenance)
- Train center personnel on best practices when irregularities are identified
- Support research and ad-hoc center analysis and help implement corrective actions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university
- Public accounting or industry experience is a plus
- Healthcare experience is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, high integrity, and able to maintain confidential information
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with center teams
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be able to work onsite when requested and have regular and reliable attendance
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends as business needs require
Schedule & Location
- Remote-Centric Hybrid — primary work from home with in-office visits approximately 2–3 times per month (Nashville, TN area)
- Must be able to work onsite when requested by the confidential client
Compensation
- Estimated pay (as shown in source posting): $110,972 per year — estimated. Actual compensation may vary based on experience and location.

- Strong Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems (experience with proprietary cash systems is a plus)
- Ability to analyze variances and recommend process or control improvements
