What You’ll Do

You will support the accounting team of a confidential client in Montgomery, AL, by performing core accounting tasks that ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and month-end close activities.

• Assist with preparation, review, and distribution of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and record accounting transactions in line with standard procedures.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts and supporting documentation.
• Work with department leaders and internal stakeholders to collect financial information and explain variances.
• Analyze financial data for inconsistencies and unusual fluctuations; help document explanations.
• Maintain organized documentation to support reporting, internal review, and audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Support ad-hoc accounting projects and team tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field — or equivalent relevant experience.
• Approximately 1–2 years of accounting experience (including internships or entry-level roles).
• Working knowledge of core accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for organizing, analyzing, and reconciling financial data.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, or month-end close activities.
• Familiarity with accounting software or enterprise financial systems.
• Experience preparing financial reports and maintaining supporting schedules.
