Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Staff Accountant I to join its Family Wealth Services Group in Alexandria, VA. This early-career, full-time role offers broad exposure to tax and accounting work across individual, trust, estate, partnership, and corporate engagements. Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare individual income tax returns and supporting workpapers
- Assist with trust and estate tax returns and extensions
- Organize and maintain engagement documentation and client tax information
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state filing requirements
Accounting & Bookkeeping Services
- Perform bookkeeping and accounting services for clients
- Assist with trust and estate accounting tasks and financial statement preparation
- Support accounting engagements and client projects with accurate recordkeeping
Client Service & Communication
- Prepare professional client correspondence and engagement communications
- Respond promptly to client requests and support engagement teams
- Help gather client information and manage documentation
Technical Development & Team Collaboration
- Research tax and accounting issues as assigned
- Learn firm methodologies, systems, and best practices
- Collaborate with Managers, Principals, and team members on projects
- Support engagement teams during busy seasons and assist with special projects
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1+ year of accounting, tax, or public accounting experience
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred (not required)
- Exposure to estate & trust tax returns
- Experience with bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
- Interest in long-term career growth in public accounting
