What You’ll Do
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer, Android (Kotlin) to design, build, and support native Android experiences that serve customers at scale. You’ll work on a cross-functional product team and own features end-to-end: requirements, design, implementation, CI/CD, launch, monitoring, and ongoing support.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks.
- Partner with Product Managers, UX designers, QA, and backend teams to turn product goals into robust, scalable solutions.
- Lead architecture and design discussions; contribute to performance, security, and maintainability decisions.
- Apply secure-by-design principles and address privacy/data-protection requirements during development.
- Champion a shift-left quality mindset by adding unit/integration tests, observability, and reliability checks early.
- Build and maintain automated tests (unit, developer functional tests) to support continuous delivery.
- Integrate mobile apps with backend REST APIs, internal platforms, and third-party partner services.
- Manage releases and publishing within the Google Play Store ecosystem.
- Monitor app health and performance metrics; diagnose and resolve production incidents (participation in on-call rotation expected).
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release management, and engineering best practices.
- Continuously evaluate new Android technologies and patterns to improve developer velocity and product quality.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years professional experience developing native Android applications.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the Android development ecosystem.
- Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with modern mobile architecture and software design patterns.
- Experience writing automated unit and functional tests.
- Comfortable with Git and peer code review workflows.
- Solid understanding of secure software development and application security best practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to independently own features and deliver results in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Jetpack Compose and Android Jetpack libraries (ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation, WorkManager).
- Familiarity with Coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming.
- Experience publishing and supporting apps in Google Play Store.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps practices, and build automation.
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools and production support (on-call).
- Familiarity with cloud-native services and distributed systems.
- Strong object-oriented design skills and SOLID principles.
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems and partner APIs.
- Demonstrated ownership, urgency, and commitment to customer outcomes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $160,000 - $170,000 (full-time).
- Eligible for monthly bonuses and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) with standard vesting.

- Confidential Client provides a collaborative, pet-friendly office environment and other site-specific amenities.
Location & Schedule
- Authoritative location: Seattle, WA (hybrid). This role requires presence in the Seattle area and a hybrid schedule with in-office days (typically Tuesday–Thursday).
