Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an experienced Sr. Software Developer / Data Scientist to support intelligence community web and data systems at Fort Meade, MD. This role combines data science, cloud engineering (AWS), and secure web development for classified environments (SIPRNet/JWICS). You will build ML tools, migrate and harden cloud infrastructure, maintain sensitive web sites, and produce analytic products for senior analysts.


What You’ll Do

  • Deliver analytic and web products to USG servers and make them available to the Intelligence Community.
  • Perform data engineering, exploratory and predictive analytics, and statistical analysis to produce narrative, visual, and automated outputs.
  • Design and build ML-based tools (recommendation engines, automated lead scoring, predictive models).
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI and Tableau.
  • Lead migration from traditional servers to AWS, ensuring secure, scalable, cost-optimized architectures.
  • Design and implement AWS solutions using IAM, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, VPCs, RDS, CloudFormation, and related services.
  • Automate cloud management with Python and boto3; implement monitoring and remediation using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EventBridge, Config, Security Hub, and Lambda.
  • Implement least-privilege access controls and enforce security best practices across cloud and web environments.
  • Develop and maintain classified websites and web-based databases used by the CI Common Operating Picture (COP) and intelligence web pages.
  • Provide page design, development, integration, and day-to-day content updates on SIPRNet and JWICS sites.
  • Produce software configuration documentation, user manuals, and provide one-on-one support to branch chiefs and senior analysts.
  • Track and respond to RFIs, RFAs, and RFPs; provide weekly status updates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in website coding and basic graphics techniques, plus demonstrated experience with:
    • SQL (database management/merging disparate data sources)
    • HTML, XML, Java, JavaScript
    • Data science languages and tooling (Python, R)
    • Data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • AWS experience and demonstrated ability to design and implement secure AWS architectures.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (minimum).
  • Experience with large Multi-INT analytics, ML, and automated predictive analytics.
  • Must be Security+ certified and meet Information Assurance Technical Workforce Requirement Level II per DoD 8570.01-M, Table C3.T1 (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to obtain/hold TS/SCI with CI POLY, or current TS/SCI with CI POLY.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) web environments (SIPRNet, JWICS).
  • Hands-on experience building ML pipelines, recommendation systems, and predictive models in production.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills in Python and experience using boto3.
  • Familiarity with Auto-Scaling, ELB, VPC design, NACLs, Security Groups, and CloudFormation templates.
  • Proven technical writing and documentation skills for software configuration and user guidance.

  • High School Diploma — 20 years relevant experience (portion within last 2 years)
  • Associate’s degree — 16 years relevant experience (portion within last 2 years)
  • Bachelor’s degree — 14 years relevant experience (portion within last 2 years)
  • Master’s degree — 12 years relevant experience (portion within last 2 years)

Security & Location

  • Location: Fort Meade, MD (on-site; classified networks).
  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI POLY required or ability to obtain CI POLY.
  • This position will work with classified material and systems; US citizenship is required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $120,000 - $168,000 (final salary determined by education, experience, skills, and internal equity).
