What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Sports Producer / Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) to support TV and digital sports coverage. This hybrid role combines producing, shooting, editing and occasional on‑air reporting. Key day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Produce the weekly 30‑minute sports/culture program — write scripts, build rundowns, coordinate video/graphics and book guests.
- Serve as backup producer for the daily 30‑minute sports show.
- Shoot live sports events, features and interviews on location.
- Edit highlights, packages and feature pieces using non‑linear editing tools.
- Assist with live shots, field production and technical setup.
- Write and publish sports content for web and social platforms; support promotion of coverage.
- Work with anchors, reporters and producers to plan game coverage and special events (e.g., tournament coverage, local events).
- Perform other duties as assigned by station leadership.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support coverage of major community sports events (local college athletics, rodeos, championship events).
- Help develop creative storytelling approaches to elevate coverage across broadcast and digital channels.
- Contribute to social strategy and repurpose broadcast content for digital audiences.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in sports journalism and storytelling; knowledge of local sports is a plus.
- Basic to intermediate experience shooting and editing video.
- Comfortable conducting interviews on camera and working in fast‑paced newsroom environments.
- Experience with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop preferred.
- Familiarity with ENG and cinematic cameras (Z280, FX3 or similar) a plus.
- Experience with social publishing tools (Sprout Social or similar) preferred.
- Ability to learn newsroom systems and production workflows; strong initiative and receptiveness to feedback.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field — or equivalent experience.
- Approximately 1 year of newsroom or campus media experience recommended for entry‑level candidates.
Physical Requirements & Accommodations
- Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry broadcast equipment and operate cameras.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and to travel to field assignments.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation & Employment Details
- Employment type: Full‑time, permanent.
- Estimated pay (from source): $49,782 per year (estimated).
- This position is based in Reno, NV and follows applicable state employment requirements.
