Specimen Management Associate 2
The Specimen Management Associate 2 at Confidential Client Laboratories is responsible for accurate receipt, accessioning, storage, shipment, and inventory management of clinical specimens. This role ensures operational excellence by maintaining specimen integrity, troubleshooting routine issues, supporting safety and quality initiatives, and guiding entry-level staff in laboratory procedures within an on-site laboratory environment.

What You’ll Do
You will support specimen receipt, accessioning, storage, shipment, and inventory management for clinical samples in a regulated laboratory environment. Responsibilities include:
- Accession, label, sort, store, and prepare clinical specimens for shipment accurately and efficiently
- Maintain freezer systems, specimen inventories, and storage records
- Identify potential specimen or process issues and escalate as appropriate
- Guide and support entry-level staff with routine procedures and onboarding activities
- Respond to after-hours alarms and other critical operational needs, when required
- Support safety, quality, and 6S initiatives within the laboratory
- Monitor consumables and communicate supply shortages to stakeholders
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely communication with cross-functional teams
Who You Are
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some CAP/CLIA sites may require a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology
- Approximately 6 months of related experience preferred
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with internal laboratory systems and procedures
- Knowledge of specimen accessioning, inventory management, storage, and shipment processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when handling biological samples
- Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively
- Other equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be acceptable
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting
- Close-eye work (computer, typing, reading small prints)
- Occasional exposure to cold temperatures (freezers)

- Location: Newhall, CA (onsite)
- Employment Type: Part-time
- Salary range: $35,900 - $74,800 per year (annualized). Actual pay offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, and schedule. Incentive plans, bonuses, and benefits may also apply.
