Role Summary
This Specialist, Finance Operations role supports Business Unit finance processes for a confidential client in Accounting & Finance. The role focuses on Accounts Payable (Procure-to-Pay) or Accounts Receivable (Order-to-Cash) duties, including reconciliation, dispute resolution, reporting, and process improvement. This position is onsite at the Benton Harbor, MI location and requires regular in-office attendance per the client’s policy.
What You’ll Do
- Manage assigned AP or AR accounts, including cash application, reconciliations, and dispute resolution
- Monitor credit worthiness of trade partners and support collections or supplier payment activities
- Apply root-cause analysis to credit/payment issues and prepare clear reports for internal partners
- Initiate debit and credit memos to resolve discrepancies and follow up to closure
- Support order approval and payment guidelines and enforce controls related to finance processes
- Drive continuous improvement through process enhancements and system improvements
- Interface with vendors, trade customers, procurement, logistics, sales, and order entry teams to optimize cash flow and operational outcomes
- Escalate and perform risk management for critical past-due situations
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- 1+ years of accounting experience (including internships, co-ops, or academic projects)
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with common office software
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit & collections, or order management
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems and with cash application workflows
- Ability to analyze data and present actionable recommendations to leadership
- Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
Location & Work Arrangement
- Onsite at the confidential client’s Benton Harbor, MI office. This role requires regular in-office presence as defined by the client (no alternative/remote arrangement).
