Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality instruction and support to students with disabilities in inclusive and resource settings. Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and school staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and support student growth.

  • Collaborate with parents and staff to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and participate in ARD meetings
  • Develop and deliver social and academic programs aligned to IEP goals
  • Plan and prepare lessons and instructional materials tailored to student ability levels
  • Assess student progress with formal and informal measures and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Create and maintain a safe, organized classroom environment supportive of learning and positive behavior
  • Manage classroom behavior consistent with IEPs and district policies
  • Provide or supervise personal/medical care of students as specified in IEPs
  • Train, supervise, and coordinate activities of teacher aides and volunteers
  • Provide ongoing consultation, training, and support to general education staff to promote inclusive practices
  • Maintain required records, reports, and documentation; attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certificate with appropriate special education endorsement
  • At least one (1) year of student teaching or approved internship
  • Demonstrated ability to develop IEPs and participate in the ARD process
  • Knowledge of special education curriculum, student needs, and relevant policies and procedures
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Estimated salary: $66,553 per year (estimate)
  • Employment type: Full-time, contract
