What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Special Education (LIFE/Active Learning) Teacher to deliver purposeful, individualized instruction for K–12 students with significant cognitive disabilities. You will work in self-contained or inclusive settings as assigned and collaborate with campus teams and families to support each student’s educational, social, and physical development.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and service providers to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and participate in the ARD process.
- Design, modify, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to student ability levels and IEP goals.
- Implement academic, social, communication, and life‑skills programs tailored to students in LIFE/Active Learning settings.
- Use formal and informal assessments to track progress and adjust instruction.
- Manage classroom environment and student behavior according to IEPs and district policy.
- Provide or supervise personal care, feeding, transfers, positioning, and medical needs as specified in student IEPs.
- Train and supervise paraeducators and volunteers; coordinate related services and supports.
- Maintain accurate records, complete required reports, and communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in professional development, in‑district trainings, and campus/staff meetings.
- Follow all campus, district, state, and federal policies and procedures; model professional and ethical behavior.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with the appropriate special education endorsement (or equivalent state certification if employed by client in-state).
- At least one (1) year of student teaching or approved internship, or equivalent clinical experience.
Required Skills & Special Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to develop, write, and implement IEPs and to participate in ARD/IEP meetings.
- Knowledge of special education curriculum, assessment methods, and behavior supports for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
- Experience with adaptive instructional strategies and assistive technology for LIFE/Active Learning students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with families, teachers, and community providers.
- Ability to perform or supervise personal care tasks safely (transfers, feeding, positioning, hygiene) when required by student IEPs.
- Commitment to inclusive practices and creating a positive classroom climate that fosters student self‑esteem.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Frequent interaction with students who have complex physical, medical, and behavioral needs.
- Occasional lifting, transfers, and physical assistance required; ability to maintain emotional control and professional judgment under stress.
- Occasional prolonged or irregular hours during the school year for meetings, trainings, or events.

Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: Contract
- Estimated annual pay: $68,483 (per Ad listing) — actual pay and benefits will be set by our client.
