Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Special Education Behavior Unit (LID) Teacher to join their campus team in San Antonio, TX. This full-time, contract teaching position focuses on delivering structured, individualized instruction and behavior support to students with special needs. The role includes lesson planning, classroom management, IEP-related work, and collaboration with parents and campus staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and reflect accommodations for diverse learning styles.
- Deliver instructional strategies appropriate for students assigned to a behavior unit / LID setting.
- Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and assigned Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Assess student learning continuously using formal and informal measures and use results to adapt instruction.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, classroom teachers, campus support staff, and central instructional staff to modify curricula and set instructional goals.
- Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers as assigned.
- Maintain accurate student records, reports, and IEP-related documentation.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, guardians, and school administrators.
- Participate in staff development and contribute to campus events and extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Follow district policies, maintain punctual attendance, and exercise sound professional judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned, or a valid Teaching Permit.
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction relevant to assigned subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to instruct students and manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and contribute productively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred / Useful Skills
- Experience working in a behavior unit, LID environment, or with students who have emotional/behavioral needs.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and accommodations.
- Proficiency integrating technology into instruction.
- Training in behavior interventions, de-escalation techniques, or positive behavior supports.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, walking, and the ability to lift or carry moderate weight (15–44 pounds).
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and communicate effectively (verbally and in writing).
- Regular participation in campus activities, meetings, and professional development.
Compensation & Employment Details
- Estimated salary: $48,968 per year (estimated).
