Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Spacecraft Structural Analysis Engineer to join a mechanical engineering team in Englewood, CO. This full-time, onsite role focuses on structural and dynamic analysis for spacecraft, payloads, and launch vehicle components. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance (TS/SCI access highly desirable).
What You’ll Do
- Perform structural and dynamic analyses (modal, random vibration, shock, stress) for spacecraft components, payload systems, and launch vehicles.
- Correlate analytical predictions with test data and support hardware verification.
- Contribute to mechanical design, fabrication oversight, and test planning for space hardware.
- Apply statistical methods and engineering calculations to assess strength, fatigue, and dynamic performance.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to define technical objectives and deliver practical, innovative solutions.
- Support prototype builds, lab testing, materials characterization, and failure analysis.
- Document technical work, prepare reports, and present results to internal teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering, or related technical discipline — or equivalent experience. (Typically 0–2 years experience required with a bachelor’s degree.)
- Hands-on experience with structural design and analysis, including modal, random vibration, shock, and stress analysis.
- Proven ability to correlate analysis results with test data.
- Experience with aluminum honeycomb panels and lab testing is preferred.
- Strong mechanical design skills are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with flight, optical, or military systems and exposure to space/launch environments is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present technical material clearly.
Tools & Technical Skills
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, MSC NASTRAN, and FEMAP.
- Familiarity with MATLAB is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, codes, fatigue/fracture analysis, and statistical methods.
Clearance, Citizenship & Workstyle
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance; active TS-SCI clearance is highly desirable.
- Workstyle: Onsite (Englewood, CO).
- Travel: 0%–25% as required.
Compensation
- Salary range (provided by the client): $68,770 — $116,193 per year.
- This range reflects the client’s posted pay range for Colorado and complies with applicable pay-transparency requirements.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, published technical papers, or presentations at industry conferences.
- Prior experience supporting satellite development, payload integration, or launch operations.
- Experience with materials characterization, vibration test labs, and failure investigation.
