What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is recruiting participants for a structured Culinary Acceleration Program (CAP) designed to develop entry-level culinary leaders. As a Sous Chef in this program you will combine hands-on culinary responsibility with leadership development, coaching, and operational experience to build a pathway toward Executive Chef and multi-unit management roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise frontline culinary and food service team members during assigned shifts — scheduling, coaching, and conducting performance feedback.
  • Maintain an inclusive, safety-first culture that follows all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Support day-to-day culinary operations: recipe execution, food quality and presentation, plating consistency, and portion control.
  • Learn and apply the client’s culinary and operating standards and client-specific contractual requirements.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and vendor coordination.
  • Support cost-control efforts and contribute to financial performance goals (food cost, labor management, client satisfaction).
  • Help execute special events, catering, menu changes, promotions, and service adjustments as needed.
  • Act as a visible, engaged leader on the line and the dining floor during service periods.

Professional Development & Program Participation

  • Participate fully in cohort-based learning, virtual modules, milestone check-ins, and mentorship.
  • Build relationships across the CAP cohort and the broader organization to support long-term career growth.
  • Demonstrate progress against development goals and readiness for expanded culinary/operational responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree completed prior to program start required. Preferred fields: Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Food Service Management, Business, Operations Management, or related studies. Candidates with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts plus relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Graduating between December and August of the current school year (program timing requirement).
  • Demonstrated leadership through internships, campus involvement, or prior work experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, and professional communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require work-authorization sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Hands-on culinary experience in high-volume or institutional foodservice.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems, basic P&L concepts, and vendor relations.
  • Food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent).

Workplace & Location

This position will be placed at client sites across the United States. Candidates in and near Charlotte, NC will be considered for local placements; relocation expectations vary by assignment. Specific worksite schedule and hours depend on operational needs and client site requirements.

Compensation

  • Estimated annual pay shown on the source posting: $44,696 (estimated). Actual pay will depend on assignment location, experience, and site-specific factors.

Why Join

  • Structured leadership development (cohort-based training + mentorship).
  • Fast-track pathway from entry-level culinary leadership into operations and executive-level roles.
  • Hands-on experience with high-volume culinary operations and event execution.
  • Network-building with peers and leaders across Hospitality & Catering operations.
