What You’ll Do
This is an entry-level Mechanical Designer role using SolidWorks (or comparable CAD) to create manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation for mechanical components and assemblies. You will work with product/design engineers and production teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturability, cost and schedule targets.
- Develop detailed component, fabrication, and assembly drawings based on customer specs and project requirements
- Translate engineer concepts into accurate 2D/3D CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
- Produce and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and revision documentation
- Create and update P&IDs and PFDs as required by projects
- Review designs for functionality, manufacturability, and ease of maintenance
- Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to support cost, inventory, and project data
- Support special engineering and design projects and perform CAD release activities
Requirements
- 2+ years of drafting/design experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD/design software
- Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting principles, industry standards, and applicable design codes
- Ability to create and interpret detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Associate degree in Engineering or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with engineering and production teams
Role Details
- Pay: $25.00–$38.00 / hour (DOE — candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may qualify toward the higher end of the range)
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Pearland, TX (on-site)
- Duration: Temp-to-Hire
- Employment type: Full-time (Temp-to-Hire)
- Note: FEA/CFD experience is a plus
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- FEA / CFD exposure
- Experience with P&ID/PFD creation and interpretation
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials
- Experience working in fast-paced production or contract manufacturing environments
