What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring Software/Web Developers across levels (Entry → SME) to support mission-critical intelligence and defense software. Work will span front-end, back-end, integrations, and system architecture depending on level. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Entry-level

    • Assist with small feature development, website updates, and bug fixes following established standards.
    • Perform basic testing (unit/regression) and report defects.
    • Maintain technical documentation and help desk-style troubleshooting for non-technical users.
    • Participate in daily stand-ups, code reviews, and pair programming to accelerate learning.
  • Junior

    • Implement front-end and back-end features; contribute to design and testing.
    • Analyze production support issues and apply bug fixes.
    • Work with designers to realize UI/UX intent and document features.
  • Mid-level

    • Translate business requirements into robust, secure web and mobile features.
    • Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
    • Lead testing (unit, integration, UAT) and resolve complex production issues.
    • Mentor junior engineers and estimate work items.
  • Senior

    • Design and operate resilient front-end and back-end architectures prioritizing scalability and security.
    • Establish engineering standards for code quality, deployment, and performance.
    • Lead cross-functional efforts and provide technical direction during incidents.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME)

    • Architect microservices-based, fault-tolerant systems and define interoperability standards.
    • Oversee high-impact code reviews and integrate advanced tooling (including AI-assisted workflows).
    • Provide program-level technical leadership, budgeting input, and executive reporting.
    • Drive security and compliance practices across the development lifecycle.

What We’re Looking For

All candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

  • Entry-level: foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and familiarity with version control (Git). Degree/experience options listed below.
  • Junior: front-end fundamentals (HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript) plus basic server-side exposure (Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby). Familiar with SQL and REST APIs.
  • Mid-level: proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular), back-end stacks (Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), DB design (Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB), CI/CD, and containerization (Docker).
  • Senior: mastery of JS/TS frameworks (React, Next.js, Angular), TypeScript, advanced back-end development (Python/Node/Go/Java), cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure), and microservices architecture.
  • SME: deep expertise across full stack, system integration (REST/GraphQL), container orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and technical leadership/communication at scale.

Education/experience tiers (examples):

  • High School/GED + progressive years of experience (varies by level)
  • Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD accepted per level-equivalency guidelines

Soft skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and committed to code quality and security best practices.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Reasonable estimated pay range (U.S.): $89,600 — $204,000 per year. Final salary depends on experience, level, and location.

Location & Clearance

  • Primary work location: Arlington/Fort Myer area (hybrid model typically available).
  • Must have and maintain active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph — this is required for consideration.
