What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring Software Engineers to work on a Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Weapon System. You will join an engineering team that processes multi-sensor data to identify and characterize inbound ballistic missile threats, plan defensive solutions, and execute intercept engagements.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software components for real-time/safety-critical systems
  • Implement algorithms for sensor data fusion, threat prediction, and engagement planning
  • Develop and debug C++/Java code in a Linux (RHEL) environment
  • Work with cross-functional teams (systems engineers, test engineers, integrators) to deliver system-level capabilities
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and integration/test activities at the customer site
  • Troubleshoot complex runtime issues and contribute to continuous improvement of software processes
  • Travel up to 10% as required for integration, test, or customer support

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must meet the following:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (required at time of hire)
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, or other STEM field
  • 2+ years of related professional software development experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing software in C++, Java, or another object-oriented language
  • Experience developing and deploying software on Linux (RHEL) platforms
  • Security+ certification (or equivalent)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant STEM field
  • Experience with missile defense, aerospace, or other defense systems
  • Background in embedded systems, real-time or low-latency software
  • Experience with multithreading, performance optimization, and system integration
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control best practices

Location & Schedule

  • On-site at the customer facility in Huntsville, AL (authoritative job location)
  • Work schedule options: flexible 4/10, flexible 9/80 (every other Friday off), or standard 5/8

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $84,000 - $140,000
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; Safe Harbor 401(k); generous Paid Time Off (PTO); short- and long-term disability (STD/LTD); life insurance; and tuition assistance.
  • Confidential Client provides competitive pay and benefits consistent with experience and qualifications.

Clearance & Eligibility

  • This role requires an active DoD Secret clearance at hire and U.S. citizenship. Applicants who do not currently hold the required clearance will not be eligible.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain required security credentials and comply with all customer background checks and onboarding requirements.
