Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Software Engineering Specialist to join their engineering team based in New Jersey. This is a full-time opportunity for early-career engineers who want hands-on experience building, testing, and delivering production software while working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional partners.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to design, development, and maintenance of software features and components.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
  • Debug and resolve defects across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Build and maintain automated tests and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document implementation details and support knowledge-sharing across the team.
  • Learn and adopt best practices for security, performance, and reliability.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional software development experience (internships and school projects count).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (examples: Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Working knowledge of version control (Git) and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and basic web development concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or prior work experience on production software teams.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container technologies (Docker).
  • Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and basic data modeling.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
  • Interest in observability, performance tuning, and scalable system design.

Skills & Tools

  • Strong fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Source control: Git.
  • Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript (one or more).
  • Testing: unit, integration, and automated test frameworks.
  • CI/CD and deployment basics.
  • REST APIs, HTTP, and JSON.
