About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain operations systems and AI-driven automation that support inventory, logistics, maintenance, reporting, and business analytics. This is an on-site role in Wallingford, CT with high visibility to operations leadership and the opportunity to own projects end-to-end.

• Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 per year (estimated)

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain internal business applications and operational systems.
• Gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop tools for inventory management, production planning, job costing, and operational reporting.
• Create dashboards, alerts, and analytics to improve visibility and decision-making.
• Design and implement workflow automation and AI-powered solutions (including OCR/document processing).
• Develop applications supporting logistics, dispatch, maintenance, and asset management.
• Integrate data across multiple systems to improve reporting and analytics.
• Identify process and efficiency improvements and deliver scalable software solutions.
• Own projects from concept through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong full-stack development skills and experience shipping applications end-to-end.
• Solid experience with modern backend technologies, relational databases, and RESTful APIs.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver usable solutions.
• Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and a bias toward ownership.
• Comfortable operating independently and delivering high-impact projects.

AI & Automation Experience

• Experience with LLM platforms or AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft AI, or similar).
• OCR and document-processing experience.
• Workflow automation experience (RPA, serverless workflows, or equivalent).
• Exposure to forecasting, machine learning, or predictive analytics is a plus.
• Understanding of AI reliability, validation, and safe deployment practices.

Preferred Experience

• Background with manufacturing systems, ERP, inventory, or logistics applications.
• Experience building fleet management, maintenance, or procurement automation tools.
• Familiarity with route optimization, operational analytics, and job costing systems.
