The Software Engineer on the Confidential Client Wallet team will design and develop scalable backend services and infrastructure to support secure and efficient cryptocurrency and tokenized stock trading. Role summary
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Wallet team building backend services and infrastructure for a production crypto wallet and tokenized-asset platform. This is a full-time, on-site/hybrid role based in Menlo Park, CA (New York, NY is also supported). In-person attendance is expected at least 3 days per week.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power wallet functionality, custody, and trading for digital assets.
- Deliver product-facing features and platform improvements with strong correctness, security, and scalability guarantees.
- Build and maintain cloud-native systems and services (service APIs, data pipelines, queues, caches).
- Diagnose performance, reliability, and security issues and engineer long-term fixes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, client teams, and external vendors to reach aligned technical tradeoffs.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture reviews, and engineering best practices across the Wallet organization.
Who You Are / Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong backend engineering experience using Go, Python, or Java.
- Deep understanding of system design, data modeling, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
- Proven track record delivering end-to-end features with strong ownership and attention to security and reliability.
- Ability to simplify complex technical problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and align cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to raising engineering standards across the team.
Nice-to-haves / Bonus Points
- Experience building or working with DeFi protocols, crypto wallets, or other blockchain infrastructure.
- Familiarity with EVM-compatible blockchains and smart contract basics.
- Experience with high-throughput trading systems, perpetual futures, or tokenized securities.
- Background in observability, performance engineering, or security for financial systems.
Location & Work Arrangement
- Primary locations: Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY. The role requires in-person attendance at least 3 days per week.
- Candidates in other supported locations may be considered; compensation varies by location (see Compensation section).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay ranges (location-dependent):
- Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC): $166,000 — $195,000 USD
- Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL): $147,000 — $172,000 USD
- Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL): $130,000 — $152,000 USD
- In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for bonus opportunities, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and more.
- The exact base pay offered will depend on job-related factors such as experience, location, and market conditions.
