Role summary
Confidential client, an established global investment management firm, is hiring a junior-to-mid-level Software Engineer for its Trading Technology team. This on-site position is based in Stamford, CT and is targeted at local candidates. You will help maintain and enhance Windows client and server applications, contribute to new development work, and support business-critical pre-trade signal and order generation systems.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with developers and business users (primarily quantitative trading teams) to gather requirements and scope projects
- Maintain, enhance, and support existing Windows client and server applications; contribute to new builds
- Review systems for opportunities to improve robustness and performance
- Propose and implement technical and business-side improvements
- Write product specifications and train colleagues and end users on systems and maintenance procedures
- Perform unit, integration, and functional testing
- Support pre-trade signal and order-generation systems through UAT and production with a focus on accuracy, reliability, and timely processing
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–5 years of software development experience (strong recent graduates with internships, academic or project work are encouraged)
- Strong object-oriented programming skills — C# preferred; strong Java, Python, or other modern-language experience will be considered
- Experience or solid knowledge of concurrency, automated unit testing, and SQL
- Strong communication skills and comfort working with developers and business users across the full development lifecycle
- Close attention to detail and commitment to delivering reliable, well-tested software
Nice to Have
- Experience with event-driven architecture or messaging systems
- Familiarity with F# or functional programming concepts
- Prior exposure to trading or financial-services technology (helpful but not required)
Compensation & Location
- Estimated base salary: $115,581 per year (estimated)
- On-site role in Stamford, CT — local candidates preferred
- Employed directly by our client (hiring decisions and employment are made by the client)
