Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer - Software Test to join an engineering team focused on system-level software integration, test automation, and validation. This is a full-time role supporting complex software/hardware systems within a regulated environment. The role requires a candidate who is collaborative, pragmatic, and comfortable working across development, lab, and integration environments.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform software unit and integration testing and implement test automation for host and target environments.
  • Execute integration and troubleshooting for software components across multiple networks and interfaces.
  • Work in both development and lab environments; understand environment-specific constraints and ensure appropriate integration/test coverage.
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, and integration/test teams to diagnose and resolve defects found during installation, integration, acceptance testing, and operational events.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation and detailed problem reports to support repeatable integration and future work.
  • Follow formal software life-cycle processes from requirements through test; contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and automation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 2 years of related engineering experience; OR Master’s in a STEM field with entry-level related engineering experience.
  • Experience integrating and testing software and hardware components in Unix and Windows environments.
  • Familiarity with formal software life-cycle methodologies (requirements → design → implementation → test).
  • Ability to obtain Security+ certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for positions that require government clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with test automation (installation, configuration, regression and acceptance test automation).
  • Familiarity with software network interfaces and multi-network integration.
  • Agile development experience and Agile Systems Engineering practices.
  • Proficient technical writing and clear communication skills.
  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA.
  • Experience developing and maintaining scripts or automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range (primary level): $79,300 – $137,600 per year.
  • Confidential Client considers multiple factors when setting pay, including job scope, experience, education, and market conditions.
  • Depending on role, additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and annual bonus programs.
  • Typical benefits may include medical, life and disability insurance, retirement/savings plan, paid time off, and company holidays. Specific benefits and eligibility will be provided by our client.

Work Location & Clearance

  • This role is located in North Dakota (on-site or partial hybrid per program needs). Candidates must be prepared to work in lab and on-site integration environments.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required for this position. U.S. citizenship is required for clearance-holding roles.
