What You’ll Do

This full-time Software Engineer role is a hybrid position based in San Francisco, CA. You will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that support the confidential client’s operations, including internal applications, case-management tools, and integrations with existing systems. Daily responsibilities include implementing back-end services, producing clean and maintainable code, performing code reviews, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with IT, operational staff, and other stakeholders to improve workflows and data accuracy. Additional duties include documenting technical designs, ensuring security and compliance, and participating in continuous improvement efforts to increase system performance and reliability.

  • Implement and maintain back-end services and APIs
  • Write, test, and maintain clean, maintainable code (C#, .NET, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Design and optimize T-SQL queries and maintain SQL Server databases
  • Support and modernize legacy applications (VB, Perl, PHP) as needed
  • Perform code reviews and mentor peers on best practices
  • Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve production issues
  • Document technical designs, deployment steps, and operational runbooks
  • Assess and implement AI-enabled or automation solutions while ensuring privacy, security, accessibility, and appropriate human oversight

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Proven experience developing applications in C# and .NET (ASP.NET or ASP.NET Core)
  • Strong experience with T-SQL and SQL Server
  • Practical experience with JavaScript for front-end or full-stack tasks
  • Familiarity maintaining or working with legacy codebases (VB, Perl, PHP)
  • Experience using Visual Studio and Windows-based development tooling
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX environments and shell scripting
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Strong troubleshooting, systems analysis, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to security, data governance, and records management practices

Desirable / Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating, developing, or supporting approved AI-enabled solutions (generative AI, ML, NLP, intelligent document processing, or AI-assisted workflow automation)
  • Knowledge of assessing AI solutions for accuracy, privacy, accessibility, and responsible human oversight
  • Professional certifications or demonstrated experience in Microsoft technologies, SQL Server, Linux, cloud services, cybersecurity, or project management
  • Experience working with operational or case-management systems in regulated environments
  • Passion for continuous improvement and cross-team collaboration

Location & Work Model

  • Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid). The role combines on-site work at the confidential client’s facilities with remote work flexibility. Candidates must be able to commute to San Francisco-area worksites as required.
