What You’ll Do
You will build software at the intersection of medical devices, image processing, and lab automation. Working closely with cross-functional co‑founders and engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, and research), you will design, prototype, and test clinical systems and internal tools that support device development and preclinical studies.
- Design, implement, and test software for clinical prototypes and lab automation workflows
- Rapidly prototype desktop applications and operator interfaces for device control and data visualization
- Implement numeric analysis, image processing, and ML pipelines for experimental data
- Integrate real‑time signal processing and device control components with hardware
- Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to translate experimental requirements into robust software
- Document experimental software, run reproducible tests, and support lab test & measurement automation
- Contribute to architecture and product decisions; role expected to grow into technical leadership as the team scales
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, plus 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong Python proficiency and experience in rapid prototyping
- Experience with numeric/data libraries (numpy, scipy) and image processing tools (OpenCV, scikit-image)
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch) and applying models to image data
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience designing desktop application UIs and architectures (MVP/MVVM/MVC or Elm-like patterns)
- Familiarity with Qt for Python (PySide or PyQt)
- Experience with test & measurement automation using Python or MATLAB
- Background in medical imaging or image-guided procedures (ultrasound, CT, MRI)
- Hands-on experience with ultrasound prototyping hardware (e.g., Verasonics, Cephasonics)
- Prior work applying image processing, computer vision, or deep learning to medical images
- Entrepreneurial attitude, self-motivation, and desire to grow into technical leadership
