What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate AI-powered solutions within a FedRAMP-authorized SaaS platform used by federal customers. You will work across the stack to deliver secure, reliable automation for mission-critical infrastructure workflows.

  • Engineer AI-powered solutions and intelligent agents to automate complex federal workflows
  • Design, develop, and consume secure, scalable RESTful APIs
  • Write and maintain automated unit tests and end-to-end test suites
  • Build and optimize data models for relational databases and data warehouses
  • Embed security-first practices and mitigations into the SDLC
  • Debug production issues using logs, traces, and metrics and drive long-term fixes
  • Collaborate with product, security, and operations teams to transform requirements into robust, maintainable software

Who You Are

  • You prioritize engineering excellence and take ownership of quality
  • Comfortable working across the full SDLC: planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • You build with AI responsibly — you can evaluate model output, detect when a model is confidently wrong, and avoid shipping unexplainable behavior
  • You thrive at the intersection of rapid development and strict security/compliance controls
  • A collaborative problem-solver who enjoys direct interaction with colleagues and clients
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; willing and able to obtain Top Secret clearance (note: some clearance levels may require U.S. citizenship)

Required Technical Expertise

  • Python
  • JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience developing with agentic coding tools or AI-driven development workflows
  • Automated unit testing and end-to-end testing frameworks
  • Developing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Experience with relational databases and data warehouses
  • Deep understanding of web application security risks and mitigations
  • Experience debugging production systems using logs, traces, and metrics

Additional (Preferred) Skills

  • Experience building on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Broad understanding of AI/ML technologies beyond simple LLM prompting
  • Exposure to networking and security technologies
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field

Location & Clearance

  • Location: Reston, VA (on-site or as required by contract)
  • This role supports federal customers and requires the ability to obtain/unlock a Top Secret (or equivalent) clearance.

Compensation

  • Base salary range (from source): $75,000 — $125,000 per year. Final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
