What You’ll Do

This contract role is focused primarily on backend engineering with meaningful frontend collaboration (approx. 70% backend / 30% frontend). You will design, build, and maintain scalable services, help integrate frontend components, and work with cloud infrastructure and containerization tooling.

• Develop and maintain backend services using Java, Golang, or Ruby on Rails (experience in at least one required)
• Collaborate with frontend engineers using JavaScript to ensure smooth API and UI integration
• Build, test, and deploy Docker containers and manage containerized deployments
• Work with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible) to provision and maintain environments
• Use Kubernetes for orchestration and continuous deployment workflows
• Participate in full-stack tasks as needed, including troubleshooting production issues and performance tuning

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Golang, Java, or Ruby on Rails
• Experience with frontend development using JavaScript (ability to collaborate on integration and debugging)
• Practical knowledge of Docker/containerization
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code: Terraform and/or Ansible
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes for deployment orchestration
• Willingness to work East Coast core hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET)

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Prior full-stack development experience
• Experience in CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tooling
• Familiarity with microservices patterns and distributed systems
• Exposure to security best practices for cloud-native apps

Work Environment

This is a fully remote, contract position. Candidates can work from any U.S. location but must be available during East Coast core hours (9:00 AM–5:00 PM ET) for meetings and collaboration.

This is a Contract role. Primary (authoritative) location: Raleigh, NC — Remote (telecommute) work is accepted with East Coast hours.

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $70.00 - $80.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
