Confidential Client is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to support integration, configuration, and validation of power monitoring and metering solutions for Remote Power Panels (RPPs) and related power distribution products. This role focuses on integrating first- and third-party metering devices, configuring communication interfaces, validating firmware/software releases, and ensuring system-level interoperability in commercial and industrial power distribution environments.

What you’ll do
- Support integration and validation of first-party and third-party metering devices with Remote Power Panel (RPP) products.
- Configure and test communication interfaces between metering devices, controllers, gateways, and monitoring systems.
- Perform device configuration, commissioning, and interoperability testing in lab and field environments.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and communication issues; reproduce and resolve customer- and internally-reported problems.
- Assist with root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
- Support software and firmware release validation activities, including test planning and execution.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, firmware, test, and product management teams to ensure successful product integration.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, integration guides, and validation reports.
- Participate in laboratory testing and evaluation of power distribution and monitoring equipment.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in C, C++, Python, or a similar language (coursework, internships, co-ops, or professional experience accepted).
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP communications.
- Experience or coursework in networking, communications, embedded systems, or power monitoring.
Preferred qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience with industrial controls, embedded systems, power systems, or communications technologies.
- Familiarity with Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols.
- Experience with Ethernet, RS-485, serial communications, and industrial networking technologies.
- Knowledge of SNMP, BACnet, MQTT, or similar communication protocols.
- Experience configuring or testing connected devices and networked monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with Remote Power Panels (RPPs), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), power monitoring, or related electrical equipment.

Compensation & benefits
The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,000 - $118,000. Actual pay will be based on skills, experience, and qualifications according to company policies and applicable law.
