Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer Professional for their Financial Engineering team in McLean, VA. This hands‑on engineering role focuses on building robust, scalable production systems that enable data science and machine learning workflows on large data sets. You will work with data scientists and platform engineers to productionize models, optimize Python performance, and deliver microservice-based APIs deployed to AWS.


What You’ll Do

  • Implement new models and data transformations using Python (PySpark, Pandas) for large datasets
  • Package and expose models as web service APIs (Flask) and deploy to AWS EKS
  • Optimize Python code for runtime and memory efficiency
  • Develop and maintain automated test suites (unit, integration, regression, performance)
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate on system design and architecture
  • Support production reliability: monitoring, debugging, and fault-tolerance improvements
  • Work with CI/CD and build tools (Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Git) to automate deployments

Qualifications (Required)

  • 2+ years professional experience developing in Python
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Finance, or a directly related quantitative field
  • Experience building production systems that support business‑critical processes
  • Practical experience with Python data tooling (PySpark, Pandas)
  • Experience building web service APIs (Flask) and deploying containerized services to orchestration platforms (AWS EKS)
  • Familiarity with build and CI/CD tools such as Gradle, Jenkins, Git, and Docker
  • Experience working with relational databases (MSSQL, MySQL)
  • Experience writing automated unit, integration, and performance tests
  • Solid understanding of software design principles and microservice architectures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with data scientists

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Prior work on scalable ML or analytics platforms
  • Experience optimizing memory usage and runtime performance in Python
  • Familiarity with container orchestration at scale and microservice patterns
  • Background in financial services or automated valuation/modeling systems

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annualized market-based salary range: $109,000 - $163,000 (final offer dependent on experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other qualifications)
  • Eligible to participate in the annual incentive program
  • Confidential Client offers a comprehensive total rewards package including market-leading benefits (details available during the hiring process)

  • Location: McLean, VA (on-site / hybrid arrangements depend on team needs)
  • Employment type: Full-time
