Role Summary

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer to join a Point-of-Sale (POS) Modernization team in a hybrid role based out of Lakeland, FL. This is a full-time engineering position focused on designing, building, and supporting enterprise POS applications and related services. The role emphasizes high-quality code, test-driven development, and collaboration with product and QA teams.

Candidates must live within a commutable distance to Lakeland, FL or be willing to relocate prior to starting. Selected candidates will participate in at least one onsite interview on the Lakeland campus.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain POS software components with emphasis on performance, reliability, security, and scalability
  • Implement new features and enhancements for POS applications, APIs, and web interfaces
  • Write and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and data access code
  • Build WebAPI services using the .NET framework and collaborate on backend integrations
  • Develop modern web user interfaces using frameworks such as Blazor, React, or Angular
  • Participate in deployment activities, pilot monitoring, and production problem determination
  • Work closely with QA and testers to ensure high-quality releases and advocate for Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Follow security and compliance practices, including PCI and related retail data protections
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, including AI/ML tools and frameworks that can be applied to POS platforms

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing and supporting enterprise applications
  • Minimum 1 year experience creating and analyzing SQL statements and stored procedures in SQL Server
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing in C# using the .NET framework
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing modern web-based user interfaces (Blazor, React, or Angular)
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC) and agile practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years coding experience and/or enterprise application support
  • Experience building WebAPI services using .NET
  • Familiarity with infrastructure concepts: client/server, workstations, servers, networks, and databases
  • Experience supporting retail applications and knowledge of PCI standards
  • Experience with source control systems (Azure DevOps, Git, TFS)
  • Strong TypeScript experience and familiarity with Angular or similar frameworks
  • Experience working in Agile teams and using TDD practices
  • Experience with Python and PyTorch for AI/ML projects is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and deadlines

Work Model

  • Hybrid: combination of remote work and onsite collaboration at the Lakeland, FL campus
  • Candidates must be within a commutable distance of Lakeland or willing to relocate before starting
  • At least one onsite interview is required for candidates who advance in the process
