What You’ll Do

Confidential Client seeks a Software Engineer focused on customer success who will help troubleshoot, fix, and improve an enterprise industrial software product. This role balances reactive support work with proactive product development and will include the following responsibilities:

  • Triage, investigate, reproduce, and resolve customer-reported issues in collaboration with Customer Success.
  • Analyze real-world customer use cases and environments to deliver reliable fixes and targeted enhancements.
  • Design, develop, modify, and unit test new and existing software with emphasis on stability and customer impact.
  • Implement customer-specific enhancements and participate in validation and system testing.
  • Contribute to product documentation and clearly communicate technical findings to internal teams and customers.
  • Participate in peer design and code reviews; follow agile/“fail-fast” methodologies.
  • Engage in R&D and new product design as the company scales.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional programming experience (B2B or enterprise software experience preferred).
  • Strong customer-focused mindset with proven ability to collaborate across teams to diagnose and resolve issues.

Skills & Tools

  • Full-stack development experience — Java and React preferred.
  • Familiarity with REST, JSON, SQL, TCP/IP, and security best practices.
  • Comfortable with development tools such as IntelliJ, Maven, Visual Studio Code, and GitHub.
  • Understanding of threading, synchronization, and lower-level programming constructs is a plus.
  • Experience or familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Agile (SCRUM) experience and strong test/validation practices.
  • Interest or experience in industrial automation, IIoT, analytics, or machine learning is a plus.

Location & Work Model

  • Primary location: Portland, ME (headquarters).
  • Work model: Hybrid or fully remote within the United States (confidential client supports flexible arrangements).

Compensation

  • Base salary range (provided by source): USD 95,000 – 115,000 per year.
  • Exact salary will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors consistent with applicable law.
