The Software Engineer (Release & Platform Engineering) at Confidential Client is responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling secure, automated CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure across hybrid cloud environments. This role bridges software development and operations by building microservices, managing Kubernetes deployments, and embedding security controls to enhance platform resilience and reliability in a fully on-site technology center.

What You’ll Do
As a Software Engineer (Release & Platform Engineering) on the platform team for a confidential client, you will design, build, and operate the automation and infrastructure that enable engineering teams to deliver software safely and quickly.
- Design, implement, and scale CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) across hybrid cloud (GCP preferred) and on-prem environments.
- Develop and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs (Python, Java, or similar) to support internal platform tooling.
- Automate containerized deployments and manage Kubernetes (GKE) clusters using Helm charts.
- Improve platform resilience through monitoring, logging, and observability (Splunk or similar).
- Embed DevSecOps practices: integrate security and compliance controls directly into pipelines and IaC.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve platform and application incidents.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and security partners to increase reliability and reduce toil.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, plus a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and Helm.
- Proven experience writing and maintaining Terraform for cloud and hybrid environments.
- Hands-on experience building pipelines with GitHub Actions (CI/CD automation).
- Experience building microservices and REST APIs (Python, Java, or similar).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell) for automation and operational tasks.
- Experience with monitoring/logging platforms (e.g., Splunk) and improving observability.
- Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and ServiceNow.
- Understanding of application security tooling and scanning (SCA tools like Checkmarx, Nexus IQ) is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a cross-functional team and participating in on-call rotations.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Applied AI experience for platform automation (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or other AI development assistants).
- Multi-cloud exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architecture design.
- Experience with service mesh, advanced observability stacks, or chaos engineering.
- Prior experience in a regulated industry (financial services or banking) is helpful.
Location & Work Arrangement
This role is fully in-office (5 days per week) at the confidential client’s technology center in Midvale, UT. Local candidates authorized to work in the U.S. and able to commute to Midvale are preferred.
Visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B) is not available for this position. This includes candidates on CPT, OPT, or other temporary authorizations who would require future H-1B sponsorship to maintain employment eligibility.
