The Software Engineer, Platform at Confidential Client is responsible for building and maintaining foundational infrastructure systems including databases, cloud environments, and internal tooling to support the company's product and operational needs. This role requires strong infrastructure judgment combined with a product mindset to improve developer experience, scalability, and security, while enabling internal teams to build and operate agentic systems confidently. What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer, Platform to build and operate core infrastructure that enables product teams to move quickly and safely. You will work across product and company infrastructure—PostgreSQL databases, Google Cloud (GCP), developer tooling, internal data platforms, and the shared systems that power internal AI/agent workflows.
- Ship platform improvements that increase developer velocity, reliability, or security.
- Own changes to production databases and cloud infrastructure with safe migration, validation, observability, and rollback.
- Build internal tooling and product surfaces that make infrastructure useful to engineering and non-engineering teams.
- Design and expand shared frameworks for agentic systems: evals, harnesses, sandboxes, configuration interfaces, and operational dashboards.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate.
- Establish standards and runbooks for production ownership, incident response, and access/security practices.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a strong fit if you have hands-on platform experience and a product-minded approach to infrastructure.
- Experience building and operating production platform or infrastructure systems.
- Hands-on with PostgreSQL and Google Cloud (GCP) in production settings.
- Planned and executed migrations with rollback and validation strategies.
- Strong engineering judgment around reliability, scalability, and security.
- Comfortable building developer-facing interfaces and internal product surfaces.
- Empathetic collaborator who treats internal teams as customers and iterates from real feedback.
- Bonus: experience building infrastructure for agentic systems (evals, loops, harnesses, sandboxes).
- Bonus: application or infrastructure security experience.
- Bonus: experience in financial products or systems with high auditability and data integrity requirements.
Within your first 1–6 months
- Month 1: Learn the platform, build relationships, and ship an initial infrastructure improvement.
- Month 3: Own a platform project end-to-end; execute a database or GCP change safely.
- Month 6: Deliver substantial platform improvements and expand shared agent infrastructure used across teams.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay range: $115,000 – $280,000 per year (actual pay based on skills, experience, and location).
