Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Software Engineer (Data/Streaming focus) for a 12-month W2 contract in Phoenix, AZ (hybrid). You will contribute to a large-scale data engineering environment and work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Flink, Python/PySpark, Airflow, BigQuery, lakehouse technologies, and emerging GenAI tooling. This opportunity is ideal for engineers experienced in cloud modernization, real-time streaming, and scalable data architecture.

- 12-month W2 contract
- Rate: $43 per hour (W2)

Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of Software Engineering experience (or equivalent via consulting, training, military, or education)
- 5+ years of data engineering experience, including hands-on Hadoop and Google Cloud data solutions
- Experience creating and supporting Spark-based processing and Kafka streaming solutions
- 2+ years hands-on building data flows with Kafka, Flink, and Spark Streaming
- 3+ years with data lakehouse architecture and design
- Hands-on experience with Python and PySpark, Apache Kafka, Airflow, and SQL
- Experience with GCP Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Dataproc, and Cloud Composer
- 2+ years working with NoSQL databases (columnar, graph, document, key-value) and modern data formats
- Public cloud certification (e.g., GCP Professional Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, AWS Specialty Data Analytics)
Desired Skills & Experience
- Proven experience migrating data from on-premises to cloud-native platforms
- Familiarity with the Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, HDFS, Parquet, Iceberg, Delta Tables)
- Strong understanding of data warehouses, cloud data architecture, pipeline development, and orchestration
- Experience designing modular, scalable pipelines with automated data controls and governance
- Familiarity with GenAI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) for agent-based data capabilities
- DevOps / CI-CD tool experience: Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
- Web UI experience with React and Node.js is a plus

You will help build, operate, and optimize cloud-native and streaming data solutions that power business analytics and ML/GenAI initiatives. Work will include design, implementation, testing, and support of data pipelines, streaming applications, and lakehouse integrations while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Daily Responsibilities
- Participate in low- to moderately-complex engineering initiatives and identify process improvements
- Evaluate technical alternatives, present recommendations, and exercise independent judgment
- Develop and support scalable data processing, streaming, and cloud data solutions
- Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders and engineering peers
- Collaborate on data architecture, pipeline design, and cloud modernization efforts
- Follow applicable policies, procedures, and compliance requirements for data systems
Qualifications & Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Relevant public cloud certification(s) preferred
- Must be able to work in the U.S. (authorized to work in the U.S. as required for W2)
