What You’ll Do
This Software Engineer (location: Oregon, OR) will design, develop, test, and maintain software used in aviation and aerospace component systems. You will work with C/C++ codebases, contribute to UI work using Qt/QML/Widgets, and may interface with video encoding/decoding components (FFMPEG). You will collaborate with engineers, customers, and technicians to deliver reliable, testable solutions that improve system performance and usability.
Core Responsibilities
- Modify and enhance software to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Design and implement software components and user interfaces using C/C++ and Qt/QML/Widgets
- Develop and execute unit and integration testing routines and procedures
- Monitor system performance and diagnose issues in software and supporting systems
- Prepare and transform data for analysis and performance tuning
- Provide technical support for software maintenance and deployments
- Coordinate software and hardware installation and provide user/technician training
- Document designs, test results, and communicate project status to stakeholders
- Participate in project planning, estimating resource requirements, and analyzing project data
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Confidential Client
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related computing field
- At least 2 years of professional programming experience
- Proficiency in C and/or C++
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Comfortable using standard office and development tools (e.g., MS Office, source control, build systems)
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with the Qt framework, QML, and Widgets
- Familiarity with video encoding/decoding (FFMPEG)
- Background or interest in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or aviation/aerospace systems
- Experience assessing database performance and preparing data for analysis
- Past experience delivering software in regulated or safety-conscious industries
Physical & Work Environment
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment) when required
- Regular use of computer, laptop, mobile devices, and associated peripherals
- May require occasional on-site visits or coordination with hardware teams
