What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer focused on New Product Introduction (NPI) tooling to build lab and qualification systems that move hardware from prototype through validated fleet deployment. This role owns test orchestration, data capture, analysis pipelines, and the automation that turns manual lab workflows into repeatable production artifacts.

  • Build and maintain test orchestration and lab tooling for new hardware qualification.
  • Ship benchmark automation, configuration management, and results databases used by the lab.
  • Capture and own qualification data so runs are comparable and queryable across platforms and time.
  • Automate the path from lab to fleet: package golden configs, validation suites, and deployment-ready artifacts.
  • Work closely with hardware and systems engineers to iterate on tools and workflows.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and implement test automation and data pipelines for hardware qualification.
  • Create and maintain results databases, telemetry pipelines, and analysis tooling.
  • Turn manual engineering workflows into automated CI/CD-style pipelines for lab and production validation.
  • Instrument hardware with telemetry and logging, and build tooling to process measurements at scale.
  • Ensure reproducibility: versioned configs, validation suites, and deployment packaging.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers in the lab to validate features and iterate rapidly.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience building test automation or lab software for hardware programs.
  • Strong software engineering skills in production-quality Python or Go.
  • Experience handling hardware-shaped data: telemetry, logs, and high-volume measurements.
  • Track record of turning manual workflows into automated pipelines or CI processes.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers who use your tools and iterating based on feedback.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with hardware test harnesses and CI for hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with Grafana, time-series databases, and telemetry dashboards.
  • Knowledge of BMC / Redfish APIs and hardware management tooling.
  • Background in benchmark automation, configuration management, or results databases.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range (base salary): $224,000 - $279,000 per year.
  • Confidential Client is committed to pay equity and transparency.
  • Benefits and additional compensation (equity, bonuses, health benefits) will be discussed during the interview process.

  • Extreme ownership and full autonomy — own projects end-to-end.
  • High velocity and focus on shipping fast while maintaining quality.
  • First-principles thinking: challenge assumptions and prioritize the best ideas.
  • Intense, mission-driven work with collaborative engineering teams.
