Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer, NPI to build lab and new-product-introduction (NPI) software that drives test orchestration, data capture, analysis, and the automation path from prototype lab to deployed fleet. You will deliver production-quality tooling used by engineers working on hardware programs and help turn manual engineering workflows into repeatable, queryable pipelines.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain software for new product introduction: test orchestration, data capture, and qualification analysis for hardware.
• Ship and operate lab tooling: benchmark automation, configuration management, and results databases.
• Ensure every qualification run is captured, comparable, and queryable across platforms and time.
• Automate the path from lab to fleet by packaging golden configs and validation suites for deployment.
• Work closely with hardware and test engineers — sit with users, iterate quickly, and incorporate feedback.
• Write production-quality code, own features end-to-end, and support deployments and CI for hardware workflows.

Core Qualifications

• Experience building test automation or lab software for hardware programs.
• Proven ability to convert manual engineering workflows into automated pipelines.
• Comfortable handling hardware-shaped data (telemetry, logs, measurements) at scale.
• Production-quality experience in Python or Go.
• Strong collaboration skills — iterate with the engineers who use your tools.
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical field is preferred.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with hardware test harnesses and CI for hardware.
• Familiarity with Grafana and time-series databases.
• Experience with BMC/Redfish APIs or similar hardware management interfaces.
• Prior work on benchmark automation, results databases, or large-scale telemetry systems.

Compensation & Location

• Location: Austin, TX (on-site / hybrid as determined by the Confidential Client)
• Compensation Range: $224,000 - $279,000 per year (base salary range)
