About the Role

This is a part-time, hybrid Software Engineer role based in New York, NY. You will design, build, and maintain high-quality software, collaborating closely with product and design partners. The role is ideal for an engineer comfortable working across the stack (backend or frontend) who values clear communication and strong engineering fundamentals.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain clean, testable, and scalable software.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write efficient, well-documented code and follow engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical decisions, and share knowledge with the team.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications to improve performance and user experience.
• Help maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and development tooling as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building production software (internships, freelance, or professional).
• Strong problem-solving ability and a collaborative mindset.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies, testing, and debugging.
• Experience using version control systems such as Git.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in one or more of: Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid, cross-functional team environment.
• Familiar with Git-based workflows and basic CI/CD concepts.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with web frameworks or modern frontend libraries (React, Vue, Angular) if focusing on frontend.
• Experience with backend frameworks and RESTful APIs (Spring, Flask/Django, Node/Express) if focusing on backend.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker).

Compensation & Work Model

• Pay range: $40–$50 per hour.
• Employment type: Part-time.
• Work model: Hybrid (New York, NY) — a mix of on-site and remote work as agreed with the team.
