Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer (Unpaid, Volunteer) to join a remote volunteer engineering team supporting a youth-focused esports league. The work supports live-broadcasted interschool competitions and related web/tools that serve students and educators. This role is remote with a preference for candidates in the New York metropolitan area and is ideal for college students or early-career engineers interested in AI-driven tooling and community-focused projects.
What You’ll Do
- Implement new features and deliver bug fixes for web and backend tooling
- Write and run tests to keep the codebase stable
- Participate in code reviews and help maintain code quality
- Troubleshoot production and development issues
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Work closely with remote volunteers (product, ops, and broadcast teams) to iterate on features
Requirements
- Experience working with AI agents (practical usage or integration experience)
- Familiarity with Git and standard version-control workflows
- Comfortable working remotely and communicating asynchronously
- Ability to commit approximately 10–20 hours per week (flexible schedule)
- Entry-level candidates are welcome
