🚀 SOFTWARE ENGINEER — BUILD FROM 0 → 1 — NYC
This role is for a software engineer to join an early-stage NYC start-up and build a high-growth platform from the ground up. The engineer will own features end-to-end, deploy code independently, and contribute directly to product direction in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. What You’ll Do
You're joining an early engineering team to design, build, and scale a high-growth platform from 0 → 1. This is hands-on work—no ticket-picking or narrow maintenance tasks. You will:
- Own features end-to-end: spec, implement, test, deploy, and iterate
- Ship production-quality code frequently and operate what you ship
- Design APIs and data models with scalability and reliability in mind
- Work primarily with TypeScript and PostgreSQL (backend focus), and influence front-end decisions as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve live production issues
- Help shape product direction and technical roadmap as an early engineer
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement backend services in TypeScript
- Build and maintain PostgreSQL schemas and queries for high-scale usage
- Write tests and automation to ensure quality and reliability
- Deploy and monitor services; contribute to CI/CD and observability
- Mentor and collaborate with other engineers in a fast-paced environment
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and solid OOP experience
- Backend development experience (TypeScript or comparable language)
- Hands-on familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
- Proven track record of building side projects, hackathon work, or startup experience — builder energy
- Fast learner who can solve ambiguous problems with minimal direction
- CS degree is preferred but not required if your experience demonstrates the needed skills
- Associate-level / early-career engineers who want real product ownership

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $130,000–$200,000 per year (good-faith range)
- Performance bonus opportunity
- Equity (meaningful early-stage grants)
- Additional benefits administered by the confidential client (health, retirement, etc.)
- Note: This role is in New York City; compensation range reflects market for the location. Benefits and final offer will depend on experience and role level.
Location & Work Model
- Office-first, full-time role based in the Financial District, New York, NY
- All-team, in-office collaboration is expected; relocation/interview travel support available
