Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Backend-focused Software Engineer to build and maintain backend applications and data pipelines that support an asset management firm's financial operations. This is a hands-on engineering role that partners closely with business stakeholders across portfolio analytics, fund performance, accounting, and middle-office operations.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and data pipelines to support investment management workflows.
  • Implement and extend backend systems using C#/.NET and/or Python (ASP.NET Core, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy).
  • Build data integrations and ETL processes connecting SQL Server, Snowflake, and Redis.
  • Collaborate directly with product owners, operations, and finance teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions.
  • Improve and automate existing workflows to increase accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Participate in code reviews, unit/integration testing, CI/CD, vulnerability remediation, and production deployments.
  • Monitor and optimize application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Document designs and support knowledge transfer with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on backend development experience with C#/.NET or Python and relevant frameworks (ASP.NET Core, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy).
  • Strong software fundamentals: object-oriented programming, design patterns, dependency injection, API design.
  • Experience with relational databases and writing optimized queries (SQL Server preferred).
  • Familiarity with data platforms such as Snowflake and caching layers like Redis.
  • Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and testing practices.
  • Exposure to investment management, portfolio analytics, fund accounting, or middle-office operations is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Interest in leveraging emerging AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $145,000 — $155,000 per year (Confidential Client provided range).
  • Additional compensation: Annual bonus potential.
  • Full-time role with benefits offered by the hiring organization. Exact package will depend on experience and role level.
