Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Software Engineer (New Grad) to join an early-career engineering cohort focused on cloud-based access control, video intelligence, and secure backend services. This role is for recent graduates eager to learn, contribute to production systems, and grow with experienced mentors.
Location: Bethesda, MD (onsite / hybrid as required by the hiring team)
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 per year (full-time salaried role)
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to production-quality backend and cloud services that support physical security and video platforms.
- Prototype and iterate quickly using modern AI tools and software frameworks to build new product capabilities.
- Participate in Agile team activities: daily standups, design and code reviews, sprint planning.
- Write, run, and maintain automated tests; help monitor and improve service reliability.
- Collaborate across product, QA, and operations to ship features that reach customers globally.
- Learn system design, networking basics, authentication/authorization, and cloud deployment practices on the job.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent coursework/projects).
- Working knowledge of at least one of: Python, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript (coursework, internships, or projects count).
- Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
- Comfortable using Linux and shell commands.
- Familiarity with Git or another version control system.
- Strong curiosity, problem solving, and attention to detail; ability to learn quickly in a collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
- Intro-level networking concepts (IP, ports, protocols, APIs).
- Experience or coursework with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Exposure to Docker / containerized environments and CI/CD.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals.
- Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Playwright) or test-driven development.
- Exposure to authentication/authorization frameworks (OAuth2.0, OIDC).
