What You’ll Do

This confidential client is hiring an early-career Software Engineer to join a research-focused engineering team in Mountain View, CA. You’ll work on full‑stack and cloud‑enabled software solutions that support research and systems engineering activities. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support for design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software systems (frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud services).
  • Implement responsive user interfaces and backend services using modern web frameworks and RESTful APIs.
  • Help build and maintain microservices, databases, and data interfaces to integrate components.
  • Assist with cloud infrastructure setup, configuration, and automation on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release workflows to streamline deployments.
  • Follow secure software development practices: participate in code reviews, vulnerability remediation, and documentation.
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary Agile teams—sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Prepare technical notes, status reports, and demonstrations for project stakeholders.
  • Stay current on AI/ML techniques, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud best practices through continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following baseline requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or another STEM field.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML, cloud computing, or related technical work (internships, co-ops, academic projects or research count).
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, C++, or C#.
  • Basic knowledge of object‑oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Familiarity with backend concepts: REST APIs, server‑side programming, and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and source control workflows (Git).
  • Good analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance, if applicable.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications

  • Internship, capstone, undergraduate research, or personal portfolio demonstrating software development or AI/ML projects.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with data engineering topics, Python ML libraries, or model deployment practices.
  • Relevant certifications or coursework in cloud computing, AI/ML, DevOps, or cybersecurity.

Compensation & Location

  • Salary range: $105,000 to $135,000 per year (provided based on experience).
  • This is an onsite role in Mountain View, CA; some hybrid work may be possible per team policy.
  • Employment is with a confidential client; benefits and additional compensation details will be provided during the hiring process.
