What You’ll Do
We are hiring a Software Engineer to join a Confidential Client team building embedded avionics and instrumentation software. You will work on C-based application development, system integration, and debugging for mission-critical, large-scale projects.
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded C applications for avionics/flight instrumentation systems
- Integrate software with hardware communication protocols (TCP/IP, ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, UART, SPI)
- Build and maintain makefiles and manage compiler toolchains to produce reliable firmware builds
- Troubleshoot and debug complex embedded systems, using logs, hardware signals, and static analysis tools
- Ensure code quality by following C coding standards (PC‑Lint or equivalent) and participating in code reviews
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, test, systems engineering) to deliver on schedule
- Produce technical documentation and test artifacts required by the software development lifecycle
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree minimum (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related) — as stated by the client
- Hands-on experience in C application development, integration, and troubleshooting/debugging of large-scale projects
- Practical knowledge of communication protocols: TCP/IP, ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, UART, SPI
- Experience generating and maintaining makefiles and using compilers in an embedded toolchain
- Familiarity with C coding standards and static analysis tools (PC‑Lint or similar)
- Knowledge of avionics/flight instrumentation concepts and DO‑178B/C software development lifecycle
- Ability to work onsite in Mineral Wells, TX for the role duration
Nice to Have / Optional
- Experience with RTOS-based development (optional)
- Prior work on safety-critical or DO‑178B/C compliant projects
- Familiarity with embedded test frameworks, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), or automated build/test pipelines
