What You’ll Do
This role is onsite and requires work in-office in Milpitas, CA. You will contribute to the diagnostics, board-support package (BSP), and device driver software that ensure high reliability and performance for networking hardware.
- Design and develop BSP and diagnostics for core and edge routing products.
- Develop and test kernel and user-space device drivers for FPGA and networking peripherals.
- Execute and maintain software test plans and validation suites.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, QA) to debug prototypes and validate software on real systems.
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack—from kernel modules to applications—during hardware bring-up and system validation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree.
- Strong proficiency in C and Python.
- Experience with hardware and device driver development, including Linux hardware bring-up.
- Practical knowledge of embedded systems and device drivers for protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and GPIO.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with kernel debugging tools (GDB, KGDB) and kernel debugging workflows.
- Experience developing software from concept through delivery for large-scale, high-bandwidth systems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex software defects across kernel and user-space components.
- Experience working with FPGA-based peripherals and networking hardware is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- The posted starting salary range for this position is $125,700 to $176,600 (USD) for U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
