What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and deliver full‑stack web applications and data‑driven capabilities that support sponsor missions.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and data services across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Write clean, well‑tested code using Python, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript across the software development lifecycle.
• Use modern front‑end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and back‑end frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Spring Boot, Flask).
• Containerize and deploy applications with Docker and support CI/CD workflows on cloud platforms (primarily AWS).
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) to meet application and data needs.
• Apply AI/ML tools and large language models to accelerate development, improve quality, and support analytic tasks.
• Collaborate in Agile teams with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver sponsor‑focused solutions.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics).
• 0–2 years of hands‑on software development experience (including internships, co‑ops, or entry‑level roles).
• Practical understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Experience developing full‑stack or web applications with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot, Flask).
• Foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and familiarity with containerization (Docker).
• Experience with databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and version control with Git.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to learn new tools quickly.
• This position requires a minimum of 3 days per week on‑site.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building or deploying data pipelines or data‑processing workflows (geospatial, NLP, or large‑scale datasets).
• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Claude).
• Experience with QA, automated test suites, or model‑output evaluation to improve software quality.
• Exposure to graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) and data‑intensive analytics applications.
• Cloud‑native development experience and familiarity with AWS services for building scalable systems.
• Prior internship, co‑op, or project experience in federal, research, or mission‑driven environments.
• Experience applying Agile or Scrum methodologies in collaborative development settings.
• Active or prior DoD/federal security clearance is a plus.

Compensation & Location

• Employment type: Full‑time
• Work location: McLean, VA — Onsite (minimum 3 days/week)
• Salary range: $86,000 — $129,000 per year (reported range; actual pay depends on experience and other factors)
