About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring a Software Engineer focused on manufacturing and supply-chain systems. You will build software that turns complex bills-of-materials (BOMs), procurement data, warehouse receipts, and inspection evidence into trusted operational decisions and automated workflows. This role sits at the intersection of production operations, procurement, and software engineering — shipping features that operators use on factory floors and planners rely on for multi-billion-dollar hardware programs.

  • Turn the bill of materials into the order book: templates, prices, lead times, and purchase orders flow from a single source of truth.
  • Make procurement tracking trustworthy: run rules and extractors against vendor emails, documents, and contracts so drift is caught early and recovery plans are drafted automatically.
  • Close the loop from receiving to payment: ensure deliveries match purchase orders, track serials in warehouse bins, and enable finance to three-way match from the same records.
  • Ship manufacturing as software before the factory opens: BOM lineage, engineering-change notices, inspection/test plans and nonconformance handling are modeled and automated.
  • Embed with sourcing leads, quality managers, and factory operators to transform their judgment into systems that set schedules, cash demand, and payment plans.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement production-grade services that map procurement and manufacturing processes into code and data models.
  • Build reliable extractors and document pipelines that convert messy vendor inputs into structured status and evidence.
  • Integrate LLMs and agentic frameworks to automate decisions, generate tasks, and assist operators while maintaining auditable rules.
  • Deliver tests, data models, and interfaces that operators adopt under real deadlines (live production runs, quarter-end closes).
  • Partner with cross-functional teams — sourcing, quality, deployment — and iterate quickly based on on-site feedback.

What We’re Looking For

The list below is a starting point. Exceptional candidates who don’t match every bullet are encouraged to apply and explain where they would contribute.

  • Production experience shipping code in Go, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Built features using LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-weight models), MCP servers, or agent frameworks.
  • Put document extraction into production against messy vendor inputs and built pipelines that make extracted data actionable.
  • Comfortable with AI-assisted coding tools and agent workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).
  • Self-starter: identify problems, design solutions, and ship them without waiting for direction.
  • Deliver durable data models and foundations other engineers can extend.
  • Earned credibility with operators in factories, warehouses, or procurement and driven product adoption in operational settings.
  • Strong product taste: interfaces that floor teams call obvious and workflows that match how work actually happens.

Bonus experience

  • MES, ERP, WMS, or TMS systems
  • BOM lineage, engineering-change control, serialized component traceability
  • Supplier quality processes (NCRs, CAPA, FAI)
  • Three-way match, receiving reconciliation, high-volume hardware supply chains
  • LLM extraction over vendor documents

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $224,000 - $300,000 (base + equity; Confidential Client is committed to pay equity and transparency)
  • Competitive total compensation package (cash + equity)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan
  • Generous PTO policy

Location & Employment Type

  • Location: Austin, TX (on-site or hybrid expectations will be discussed during the interview)
  • Employment type: Full-time
