Software Engineer

What You’ll Do
- Design, implement and test state estimation and sensor-fusion algorithms for autonomy systems.
- Build and validate Kalman filters (EKF/UKF), particle filters, and probabilistic models for tracking and trajectory prediction.
- Implement tracking and trajectory-prediction pipelines for dynamic/space environments.
- Translate research and prototypes into robust C++ and Python implementations with automated tests.
- Work on dynamics and orbital mechanics problems relevant to mission scenarios.
- Collaborate in a small, cross-functional autonomy team; take ownership of features from design through verification and flight/field test.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related technical field.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Knowledge or hands-on experience in state estimation, sensor fusion, Kalman filters (EKF/UKF) or particle filters — academic projects, internships or research are acceptable.
- Familiarity with tracking, trajectory prediction, or probabilistic modeling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate results to engineering teammates.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Master’s or PhD, or strong research/thesis experience in estimation, autonomy, GNC, robotics, or applied math.
- Experience with orbital mechanics, dynamics, or space systems (CubeSats, missions) is highly relevant.
- Prior work with autonomy stacks, real-time systems, or embedded toolchains.
- Publications, open-source contributions, or demonstrable project work in estimation/autonomy.
- Experience with testing frameworks, simulation toolchains, and CI/CD for algorithm development.
Location & Work Authorization
- Location: Los Angeles, CA (on-site / hybrid as required by the confidential client).

About the Team
You’ll join a small, technically focused autonomy team at a Confidential Client operating in defense & space and robotics engineering. The team tackles hard autonomy problems with high ownership, rapid iteration, and opportunities to move code from research to flight/field tests early in your career.
