Software Engineer
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Confidential Client will develop and enhance embedded software for advanced radio systems, focusing on device drivers, networking protocols, security, and audio applications. This role requires expertise in C programming and Linux kernel development, contributing to secure, robust communication products under U.S. government contracts. The position follows a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of three onsite days per week.

What You’ll Do
You will join a confidential client’s software engineering team to design, develop, and maintain embedded software for advanced radio and communications products. Responsibilities include:
- Implementation and maintenance of MAC (Medium Access Control) software and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols
- Develop network management software and web-based interfaces for device administration
- Implement and validate security protocols and encryption algorithms (including CNSA-suite algorithms where applicable)
- Build audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications
- Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet regulatory standards such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria
- Create testing software and frameworks for performance and reliability validation
- Develop and maintain device drivers and board support packages (BSPs) for ARM and RISC-V platforms
- Customize Linux systems and write automation/shell scripts to support development and verification
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in embedded systems software development
- Strong expertise in C programming
- Experience with Linux kernel driver development
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. government contract requirements; employment contingent upon successful background check
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of modern encryption suites and security protocols (CNSA family, IPsec, etc.)
- Experience with socket programming and Ethernet/IP networking protocols
- Solid understanding of MAC and networking layers in communication systems
- Experience with AMD UltraScale+ / MPSoC and Microchip PolarFire SoC BSP support
- Experience writing Linux Interrupt Service Routines (ISRs)
- Familiarity with networking test tools and automated test frameworks
Location & Schedule
- Location: Los Angeles Metropolitan Area (on-site)
- Schedule: Hybrid — minimum 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are required onsite days)
- Note: This role supports U.S. government contracts and requires U.S. work authorization as listed above
Compensation
- Salary range: $135,000 - $200,000 per year
- The pay range is based on market data and will vary depending on experience and qualifications
